# 10. The Native Animation Thread: Animated API vs React Native Reanimated 3 Worklets

> React Native Notes by Rishabh - Topic 10

---

### 1. The 60/120 FPS Native Thread Principle 🚀

Standard React JS thread jab heavy computation (JSON parsing, state updates) me busy ho jata hai:
* Traditional animations frame drop karke stutter hoti hain (< 20 FPS).
* **React Native Reanimated 3 Worklets:** Animation logic ko direct **UI Thread (Native Thread)** par execute karti hain! JS Thread crash/freeze hone par bhi animations butter-smooth **120 FPS** par chalti hain!

---

### 2. Reanimated 3 Worklets Implementation

```tsx
import Animated, { useSharedValue, useAnimatedStyle, withSpring } from 'react-native-reanimated';
export function BouncingButton() {
    const scale = useSharedValue(1);
const animatedStyle = useAnimatedStyle(() => {
        'worklet'; // Runs directly on UI Thread!
        return {
            transform: [{ scale: scale.value }]
        };
    });
return (
        <Animated.View style={[styles.box, animatedStyle]} onTouchStart={() => { scale.value = withSpring(0.9); }} onTouchEnd={() => { scale.value = withSpring(1); }}>
            <Text>Tap Me</Text>
        </Animated.View>
    );
}
```

---

### 3. Master Comparison Matrix

| Animation Library | Thread Execution | Gesture Sync | Complex Layout Transitions |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| **Built-in `Animated` (useNativeDriver)**| Native (Transform/Opacity only)| Lags on JS thread | ❌ Impossible |
| **Reanimated 3 (Worklets)** | 👑 **100% UI Thread (Direct JSI)**| ⚡ **Zero-Latency Instant** | 👑 **Native Shared Transitions** |

---

### 4. Interview Ke 3 Sawal Is Topic Se

1. **Reanimated me `useSharedValue` standard React `useState` se kaise alag hai?** -> `useSharedValue` React component ko re-render kiye bina direct C++/UI thread par value synchronize karta hai.
2. **`useNativeDriver: true` built-in Animated API me width/height par kyu kaam nahi karta?** -> Kyunki width/height change karne se layout reflow (Yoga measurement) trigger hota hai jo sirf JS/Yoga bridge se possible tha; Reanimated 3 layout animations ise natively solve karta hai.
3. **Worklet function internally kya hoti hai?** -> Ek serializable JavaScript function jo secondary Hermes JS runtime me direct UI thread par execute hoti hai.

---
**Next Topic:** 11. Complex Gesture Interactions with React Native Gesture Handler (Pan, Pinch, Fling)
