> DevOps & Cloud VPS Notes by Rishabh - Topic 17

---

### 1. Blue-Green Deployment Architecture 🔵🟢

* **Blue Cluster (Port 3001):** Active Live Traffic.
* **Green Cluster (Port 3002):** Naya version deploy hota hai, smoke tests run hote hain.
* *Cutover:* Nginx upstream port `3001` se `3002` par switch karke `nginx -s reload`! (Instant rollback possible by switching back!).

---

### 2. Canary Deployment (Gradual Traffic Percentage 🐤)

Nginx `split_clients` directive use karke:
*   90% Users $\rightarrow$ Stable V1.
* 10% Users $\rightarrow$ Canary V2 (Check error logs, CPU metrics before 100% rollout).

---

### 3. Master Comparison Matrix

---

### 4. Interview Ke 3 Sawal Is Topic Se

1. **Database Schema migrations Blue-Green deployment me kaise handle hoti hain?** -> Expand and Contract pattern (Backwards compatible migrations) taaki Blue aur Green dono versions database schema ke sath compatible hon.
2. **Sticky sessions Canary deployment me kaise ensure kiye jaate hain?** -> Cookie hash mapping (`split_clients $cookie_session_id $upstream_group`).
3. **Automated Canary Analysis (ACA) kya karta hai?** -> Datadog/Prometheus me error rates compare karke threshold exceed hone par automated rollback trigger karta hai.

---
**Next Topic:** 18. Cloud VPS Hardening: Non-Root Sudo Users, SSH Key-Only Auth, Fail2ban & UFW Firewall Rules
