# 12. Advanced Relationships: Polymorphic, Many-to-Many with Pivots & HasManyThrough

### 1. Polymorphic Relationships (1 Table for Multiple Models 🧬)

Single `comments` table handles comments for `Post`, `Video`, aur `Lesson`:

```php
// app/Models/Comment.php
class Comment extends Model {
    public function commentable(): MorphTo {
        return $this->morphTo();
    }
}
// app/Models/Lesson.php
class Lesson extends Model {
    public function comments(): MorphMany {
        return $this->morphMany(Comment::class, 'commentable');
    }
}
```

*Database columns in `comments`: `commentable_id` (INT) + `commentable_type` (VARCHAR e.g. `'App\Models\Lesson'`).*

---

### 2. Many-to-Many with Custom Pivot Models

```php
// app/Models/User.php
public function roles(): BelongsToMany {
    return $this->belongsToMany(Role::class)
        ->using(UserRolePivot::class)
        ->withPivot('assigned_at', 'expires_at')
        ->withTimestamps();
}
```

---

### 3. Interview Ke 3 Sawal Is Topic Se

1. **MorphMap (`Relation::morphMap([...])`) kyu use karna chahiye?** -> Database me full PHP class namespace (`App\Models\Post`) store karne ke badle clean alias (`'post'`) store karna taaki code refactoring par database records corrupt na hon.
2. **`HasManyThrough` vs `HasOneThrough` kab use hote hain?** -> `Country -> Users -> Orders` (Country has many orders through users table without direct foreign key).
3. **Pivot table indexing best practice kya hoti hai?** -> Composite primary key ya unique index `(user_id, role_id)` enforce karna for fast join scans and zero duplicates.

**Next Topic:** 13. Query Scopes, Custom Eloquent Casts, Mutators/Accessors & Raw Query Optimizations
